What would you do if the CFO's son put your career at risk?

Imagine that you're a good manager and you know how to do your job. People respect you, and working feels natural and not very demanding. Well, to this wonderful scenario, add a new character: the CFO's son. This nepo baby was stuck in your team because his father wanted to give him a job… or something to do. You know that is probably a sensitive topic, so you give him the simplest task ever: CTRL C + CTRL V. Copying and pasting documents…

At the same time, the company hired an intern, and your coworkers, smarty-pants, decide to give all of their nasty work to this new kid… leaving you reconsidering what you did with the nepo baby. Perhaps you should have given him more responsibilities? Maybe one of yours? And after confirming he's not even capable of copying and pasting anything… You confront him.

Shame on you, because now you're on the blacklist.

Your higher-ups told you not to push him, or you may end up being fired. Imagine that, take a second…

People go to college; they work hard to find a good position in this hideous job market that we're facing, only for the company you're working at to side with this rich kid who clearly doesn't want to work or know how to work. Anyways, you know it's already a lost battle. You should swallow your pride and just do what you're asked to do… nothing is going to happen. Play along, and that's it. Yes, it's awful, and this manager probably deserves some respect. But ranks are ranks, and have to be "respected".

Besides the ego issue here, it's good to understand the rules inside any company. If there's somebody's son in there, then you should treat them like royalty and maybe expect nothing from them… play along with what you're told, and your job position will be secured. Sounds terrible, I know. But look what happened to this manager here: he wanted the kid to work harder, and he got iced out.

I'm an new manager at my team in an well regarded multinational company.i'm mostly love my job and I love my teamwork but there is one thing that is making me reconsidered my whole career is this new little sh that entered in the company

The CFO of the company very higher up there decided to put his son into the company to work, My manager even said that the most ridiculous part of all of this is that the message that

arrived to him is that this little sh was doing nothing at home so this job would be for teaching him discipline and good manners

Well,It's not working i guess,since he arrived he never actually did any work, I was told that he had no experience at all with anything so I decided to assign him the most basic task of all an simple task that would be CTRL C, CTRL V yes that is it simply as that.

Can you believe how incompetent an person is that he can't handle this simple task,and he is earning the same salary as my experienced team mates how demotivating is that.

The most absurd thing was last week where was decided to hired an intern to the team and you know what is the most insane of all? I saw my team mates assigned the intern the JOB OF

this 27 year old b rd,This was my breakdown and actually decided to get strict to this kid.

I sit down with him and was strict to him saying that if he didn't percieve what he was doing that he was doing an disservice to the company and that he needs to work so I assigned him an more demanding task as the intern picked his most simple task

I realized that this was my d_th sentence, Obviously this message go up to the ladder and know my superior already know said I need to be patient and keep down to this kid and try to help him and not be so harsh as this kid can get me fired!

How harsh is to listen this, To have your whole career that you work hard for threatened to an stupid rich kid.I'm in shocked by all of this and I'm thinking about changing jobs even that I love the job I do in my company and my team mates.

Youbestnotmisss I would take some comfort in the idea that if CFO got them the job to instill some discipline, then they won't overreact here. If they cave to the kid balking at a reasonable task and fire the manager, that sure as sh.. doesn't teach any lesson

getbent9977 Fair is a lie we tell kids to get them to do what we need them to. You need to read the room and pick your battles. There are a lot of ways to deal with this and you picked the one way that shows you aren't prepared for the next steps in your career. You should be working with your boss to deal with this temporary inconvenience.
